Tributes
Judith Alyce Wall (nee Frey)
August 24, 1947 to May 24, 2023
It is with sadness for our loss and gratitude for her love and life that we must say goodbye to our beloved Judy. Born in Jersey City, she attended Saddlebrook Middle and High Schools as well as Bergen County Community College.
She married her highschool sweetheart Peter Wall on June 11, 1971. They remained happily married for the next 51 years and 347 days.
She worked in various secretarial roles at companies such as New Jersey Bell Telephone Company and Morningstar-Paisley. Ultimately, she had a long and successful career as a paralegal working for and with law firms in Monmouth County, New Jersey, until retiring to Florida.
In addition to working full-time in challenging roles, she managed to raise 3 sons (and a husband) in her home in Howell Township. She was always involved in any activity her sons were interested in. Not just making cupcakes and doing drop offs either. She didn’t know anything about cub scouts or boy scouts, but she participated in leadership training and became a well respected and effective adult leader. She never played soccer, but when her sons’ team needed a coach, she stepped up and pulled together a ragtag bunch of jokers and turned them into intramural champs. She ran a tight practice for someone who never played. The public library and dedication to your children can work miracles. She was the original Ted Lasso.
Anyone who really knew Judy will tell you that if she was on your side, you were blessed with the most untiring, passionate, and loyal advocate and friend that anyone could ever ask for. She fought ferociously for the welfare and happiness of her family. She also expanded her definition of family quite often and brought her talents for inspiring and expecting the best from people to many more than just her blood relations. Her greatest legacy is the trail of loved and grateful people she leaves behind. To know her at all was your good fortune. To grow up as her son, or to be her husband was truly a gift beyond measure and we will forever be grateful, and miss her for as long as we live.
Judy is survived by her husband Peter R. Wall of The Villages, FL, son Peter C. Wall, and his wife Kirsten Wall (née Sorensen), and their sons Peter and Matthew of Mount Laurel, NJ, son Kevin F. Wall and his wife Jamie Wall (née Morin), and their son Aidan of Hanover, NJ, and son Patrick A. Wall, and his wife Shanon Wall (née Oakley), and their daughter Jenna, son Patrick Jr. and daughter Addison of Brick, NJ, as well as her sister Alana Hoff (née Frey) and her husband Kenneth Hoff of Toms, River, NJ.
Services will be private. A family memorial celebration will be planned for a later date.
